Abstract

Oneness Pentecostalism, a theological school within the Pentecostal tradition, offers a unique perspective on the concept of the Trinity. This article deeply explores a theological overview of Oneness Pentecostalism with a focus on the history of its development, its main doctrines, as well as the theological implications that arise from their view of the nature of the Trinity. The history of Oneness Pentecostalism can be traced back to the early 20th century, where the movement emerged as a reaction to the Trinitarian teachings in the Christian tradition. They emphasize the concept of the singularity of God, rejecting the separation between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as separate persons. This article dissects the theological arguments underlying this belief, exploring their understanding of baptism in Jesus' name as a manifestation of God's oneness.

Key doctrines of Oneness Pentecostalism, such as the teaching of salvation by faith and the importance of a holy spiritual life, are also investigated in detail. The theological implications of their view of the Trinity are reflected in their perception of other Christian teachings, creating significant theological tensions. In detailing how Oneness Pentecostalism views the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers, this article presents their perspective on charismatic experiences and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This analysis provides insight into how the theology of singleness influences religious praxis and spirituality within the Oneness Pentecostal community.

By investigating these aspects, this article provides a comprehensive overview of the theological overview of Oneness Pentecostalism, presenting a deep understanding of the roots, doctrines, and theological implications of their view of the Trinity. Oneness, etymologically referred to as oneness, is a teaching or doctrine about God that states that God is one. Oneness is often referred to as Oneness Pentecostalism or the Jesus Only or Apostolic school. This is because Oneness Pentecostalism believes that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are Jesus himself who manifests in all three. This understanding is in contrast to the Trinitarian understanding, which says that God has three different Persons but one essence or substance.
